What is cell therapy?

CAR-T cell therapy is one of the most advanced cancer treatments in science. The patient's defense cells are modified in the lab to learn how to eliminate the disease. Then, they are replaced in the body, enhancing the body's natural fight against cancer.

This treatment only existed outside Brazil or on an experimental scale. From now on, two production units will be installed in the state of São Paulo as an initiative of the São Paulo government and in partnership between Butantan, USP and the Ribeirão Preto Blood Center.

Advantages

...

Reduction of pain medication

...

Decreased need for chemotherapy sessions

...

Possibility of total or partial remission of cancer

...

National production, allowing the therapy to reach the Unified Health System (SUS)
